He was born in Raleigh North Carolina in 1981 and began studying violin at age 8 and then the viola at 16. Through the years his principal teachers have included Dan Shaughnessy, Hugh Partridge, Alan DeVeritch, Paul DeClerck, and Tony Nys. After finishing his studies at Indiana University Bloomington in 2005, Neil moved to Brussels to continue studying and start his professional career. Neil has spent the past ten years as an active professional musician in Belgium and Europe appearing as a member of the Brussels Chamber Orchestra, Amon Quartet, DePhilharmonie, Liege Philharmonic, and touring extensively with the neo-classical group A Winged Victory for the Sullen as well as many other projects. Besides his active concert, recording, and touring schedule, Neil is very proud to now be part of the Quatuor Amenti and their new album released on Phoenix Classics.
